Bloom Nightclub, Nelson BC

Woodworker | Sound & Light Technician | Video Mapping

Shambhala Music Festival, crowned best Music Festival in North America and strong of 20+ years of experience in the Music and Entertainment industry, came to the rescue of the Savoy Hotel, a classic building downtown Nelson and turned in into a state of the Art Business, with Bloom Nightclub in it’s basement.
I had worked for Jimmy and the Farm, as I was a Farm Decor Supervisor in 2014 for the festival and helped since 2013 in all sorts of crafty and woodworking projects.

At Bloom I started as Woodworker mainly, doing also a lot of brick and grout repairs.
Once the lights were setup in the Club and I was still installing trims, I sneaked behind the light’s computer and quickly created some thoughtful Moods using the hundreds of light fixtures, from the steps, to the living wall and led ceiling, tying everything together with no more than 4 or 5 colors, staying in the tones of different “Scenes” I created. A lil’ while later, Jimmy, the owner walked down the club and saw for the first time his club in deliberate visually pleasing moods and not just primary colors or rainbows… He hired me on the spot as Light Tech. Later on we got 8 video projectors, and thanks to my photography, I created accurate panorama of our rock walls and created precise video mapping, achieving some world class programs and presets for the nightclub and few folks I got to later train.
With experience in Audio Recording (2004-07) I quickly put my perfectionism to work and pushed the Sound every time I worked in the best way I could, trying to keep it Low enough to hear one another and not get ear damage, but loud enough to feel every bit of Music! I approached it, like everything like a Scientist and kept improving our acoustics, positions, EQs, delays… Always showing up in advance to prepare our shows!

I loved and miss that place!
